Future Growth
In the future there will be continued Action Research in my place of practice. I would like to continue the research I have started here with cycle 4 being started in the fall quarter and asking the question, If I conduct advising online more frequently will transfer students grades and knowledge of STEM transfer requirements increase. I will also be observing if the online advising done this year in the winter and spring quarters have had any affect on the number of students that apply to UC Riverside STEM majors. More than that in cycle 5, which would be done in the winter quarter I would observe online advising had a positive affect or if the data suggests that it led to an increase in applicants, is there any relation to those students accepted or accurately prepared to transfer and the past online advising sessions. Cycle 6 would surround the feelings of those in my community of practice in terms of Community College Advisors and how they feel about an increase in online advising and if they are willing to also participate in this way. A rough draft question for that cycle would be, “If I provide training and assistance in developing online advising tools would the STEM counselors at 3 specific Community Colleges use them to meet with there students?” My supervisors and I very interested to see how this research turns out, and my Director has asked me to consider presenting at a National STEM conference next year.
